Le Macchiole Bolgheri Rosso is de jongste en nieuwste wijn van Le Macchiole, geboren in 2004. Het is een traditionele Bordeaux-blend uit Bolgheri, maar dan met de distinctieve hand van Le Macchiole. Het is de meest pure expressie het Bolgheri terroir.
　
De druiven zijn afkomstig van de jonge stokken van de druiven die op oudere leeftijd zullen schitteren in de vlaggenschepen Paleo, Scrio en Messorio. Ze worden handmatig geoogst tussen eind augustus en medio september. Na een korte vergisting en maceratie in RVS tanks rijpt de wijn 10 maanden. 80% van de wijn rijpt op gebruikte barriques en 20% rijpt in cement.
　
De kleur van deze Bolgheri Rosso is mooi robijnrood. De geur heeft een mooi pallet van zwart fruit, zwarte kers en besfruit, gevolgd door een zweem van tabak, chocolade en vanille. In de mond veel primair fruit, met hints van specerijen, rijpe tannines en een uitstekende balans. De afdronk blijft mooi hangen in de mond.
　
Deze Bolgheri Rosso is een schitterende introductie in de grote wereld van Le Macchiole. Toegankelijk en elegant, zonder tekort te doen aan structuur en complexiteit.

"The Le Macchiole 2020 Bolgheri Rosso is 50% Merlot, 20% Syrah, 15% Cabernet Franc, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. This is a powerhouse wine that has become a steady little engine for the estate economy, growing from a production of 36,000 bottles to 140,000 bottles made annually today. This vintage does a terrific balancing act with dark fruit and concentration on the one hand and an accessible easy-drinking personality on the other. Black fruit cedes to baked brioche, spice and toasted aniseed. The wine finishes for 10 months in a combination of second, third and fourth-year barrique, and about 30% of the total goes into cement. The finish is polished and fresh, and you get good value."
